Discover Your Wisdom through Inner & Outer Dialogue

DISCOVER YOUR WISDOM THROUGH DIALOGUE

We have embedded within us deep wisdom of the ages. It is discovered, revealed even, whenever we enter dialogue - dialogue with ourselves or with others. Dialogue exists in several forms and it is the most important process in education - from the time of Socrates.

It's not that we are some magical tape-recorder but its that we are hard-wired or pre-disposed through simply being human, as opposed to just being animal (important though that is).

I have come to believe this through working with children who, given the right kind of teaching, articulate wisdom over and above their years, experience and education. By the right kind of process I have in mind Prof. Matthew Lipman's Philosophy for Children program).

Unfortunately the bad system of education in the mainstream knocks out the children's natural ability to articulate wisdom. The same happens with creativity.

Dialogue with ourselves is another name for meditation - or at least the early stages of meditation. We ask of our deeper self a question. Sometimes we sleep on it and lo and be hold an answer comes into consciousness when we awake.

Dialogue with others as consultation, philosophical inquiry or any structured process has many benefits:

1: We learn from others.

2: More importantly we come to know what we ourselves know!

3: The action and reaction of dialogue creates new understandings for both.

4: Dialogue can inspire and motivate us to enact steps toward our achievement and success.

HOW TOs for 3: DISCOVER YOUR INNER WISDOM VIA DIALOGUE

1) Learn to be still and silent - start with moments or 1 min a day and then build up. The purpose? - to sense the whole of which we are each an infinitesimal speck, and to experience relief from the burden and boundaries of self!

2) You can learn how to lead your children into articulating their inner wisdom through finding a local course in Philosophy for Children - start as soon as they have an interest in books, even if they don't reply and long before they can read. Ask them questions - even if they don't reply.

3) Join a philosophical inquiry group for your own development - not a study about philosophy, but a process OF philosophizing.

We realize our inner wisdom through the two wings of self-less at-one-ment PLUS the conceptual stuff you are studying on this site PLUS acting your truth in the world-at-large!
